Sister Adelaide Anne Wood served in France from August 1914 as a member of the British Red Cross Society attached to the French Red Cross 70th General Hospital in Boulogne and Paris, later in Rouen. She subsequently joined the QAIMNSR in 1915 and was sent to Egypt where she was awarded the Royal Red Cross 1st Class and was mentioned in despatches in January 1918.RRC confirmed LG.01/01/1918
