It was originally used on board the Cunard / White Star liner RMS Queen Mary for the humane despatch of large animals injured during trans-atlantic crossings. The Queen Mary was launched on September 26th 1934 and sold to the United States of America on December 12th 1967.
After its service with Cunard this humane killer was issued to the States of Jersey Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for use in the States Abbatoir.
