The Royal National Lifeboat Institution Medal in Silver.- Named to Mr William Cockrom, voted 5th March 1857.
William Cockrom was a Steward on board the Revenue Cutter 'Eagle' when the barque 'Boadicea' hit the rocks off the coast of Guernsey.
This rescue earned five silver medals and saw the RNLI take over the operations of the Guernsey Lifeboat from a new station in St Peter Port.
Only 5 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 12 bronze medals have been awarded to rescues in the waters surrounding Guernsey.
