This revolver is the .380 Smith & Wesson M.2 (Type 3) 5" 'Victory' British Service Revolver. Serial Number V25240. This particular firearm was issued to Group Captain Joe Holmes of the Royal Air Force. Group Captain Holmes was credited with wounding Feldmarschall Rommel. Whilst flying his Typhoon over the French coast he strafed a German column in which Rommel was travelling in his staff car. His was the only aircraft to report any hits on a vehicle.
