96528V Corporal Herbert Treasure Charles Wood was born in East London on 8th March 1908. He enlisted in the South African Air Force as an Air Mechanic on 6th June 1940, and subsequently served with 7 Squadron SAAF in the Middle East, Palestine, North Africa, Sadinia and Italy.
According to his service papers, he was demobbed on 16th August 1946 and awarded the following medals. The Italy Star, The Defence Medal 1939-1945, The War Medal 1939-1945 and the South Africa War Service Medal 1939-1945. This last medal is missing from the group.
